Focusing on health, welfare, and education for all companion birds.
Our Philosophy

Bringing any companion animal into your home requires careful thought, planning, and support. Sharing your life with a companion bird is no different. It is our aim to breed quality companion birds, focusing on health and positive temperament qualities that help make ideal pets. However, breeding isn't the only key to lifelong positive relationships with companion birds; we also offer lifelong support to our Pet Parents, sharing our knowledge about health, nutrition, and behaviour.

Our Aviary

Our goal is to provide all our babies the best start in life, including provision of abundance weaning, enrichment activities, and socialization opportunities that help ease the transition of our birds from aviary life to family life.

At Isis Sky, all baby birds are pulled from the nest box at three weeks old, unless there is a reason to remove them sooner, and handfed. We feel that it is important for the babies to initially feed from the parents, allowing for establishment of natural antibodies and digestive flora. The three-week mark is widely established as a suitable time to begin handfeeding, as it allows for parental involvement, but also allows the babies to imprint and bond with humans. Socialization occurs even before the babies are removed for handfeeding, through gentle cuddling, touch, and talking. Babies are allowed to fledge naturally, and are permitted opportunities to fly. We believe this makes for happier, more confident birds, as they are given the opportunity to experience the most basic of all avian behaviours and skills: flight.

All babies are abundance weaned onto a variety of fruits, vegetables, and grains, as well as a basic commercial pellet diet. From the time they are still in the nest box, the babies are introduced to natural foods, and we afford them every opportunity to try different foods, textures, and methods of preparation. While this process takes a longer time, as do all good things, we believe that this method of weaning leads to healthier birds, who are not afraid to try new foods, and more likely to gain optimum health and nutrition by not being “picky eaters”. This method of weaning allows the baby to move forward at its own pace, and some babies may take longer to wean than others. This means – our babies are not weaned on a timeframe; we do not force wean!

Most importantly: WE DO NOT SELL UNWEANED BIRDS! In fact, all babies will stay with us until they are completely weaned for a full two weeks.
